1996 SPORTS SPECIALTIES “Pro-File Snapback” Cap Ad With Penny Hardaway
Pictured here is 25 year old Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway, 3 years after his entrance into the NBA as a 1st Round draft pick for the Orlando Magic. Penny enjoyed a NIKE endorsement deal which included the Air Penny shoes (and the Lil’ Penny commercials). Sidenote NIKE acquired Irvine, California based headwear company Sports Specialties Corporation in 1992, making this ad part of the mighty Swoosh Family. In 1996 when this ad was run, he took home the Gold as part of the US basketball team during the Olympics. Hardaway was the first player to score 40 points in back to back games during the playoffs, when his team scored less than 100, losing to the Miami Heat. The “Pro-File” snapback cap he’s sporting can be found, at THE FIRM HNL.
