MITCHELL & NESS x NFL “Oakland Raiders Throwback” Snapback Hat
This post goes out to Al Davis. The legendary owner of the Oakland Raiders who passed away on October 8, 2011 at the ripe old age of 82. Mr.Davis literally spent his life in football, doing stints as a coach, commissioner, general manager and eventually becoming the full owner of the notorious Raiders Franchise in 1976. Many football historians consider Al Davis as the father of the National Football League as we know it today. Back when the leagues were split Mr.Davis was named commissioner of a competing pro football league named the AFL began an aggressive campaign against the NFL in which he began poaching the competing leagues star players. In the eyes of most these actions compelled NFL owners to sit down and work out a deal with the AFL owners which eventually gave us the National Football League that we have today. Mr.Davis’ reign as commissioner ended in 1966 and he returned to his beloved Raiders where he stayed on until the day of his death. Here’s to one of the greatest franchise owners of all time Allen ‘Al’ Davis, 7/4/29 – 10/8/11.
