Malcolm X’s original name was Malcolm Little when he was born in 1925. In 1952, he changed his name when he reached the city of Chicago. Malcolm changed his name because he converted to the religion of Islam. It was believed that blacks’ last names were given by white men when slave trade was active. Therefore, Malcolm changed his last name to ‘X’ (unknown) along with a plethora of other African-Americans.
