Initially, the team was established as the Buffalo Bisons but then moved to Illinois 13 weeks later becoming the Tri-City Blackhawks. In 1949, They joined the NBA as part of the National Basketball League and the Basketball Association of America merger. Then again, the team moved through several cities until finally finding it’s home in Atlanta, Georgia, 1968.
